Food Whore by @jessica_tom gets FOUR OUT OF FOUR STARS. First off the food descriptions were so pornographic I felt my face flush every two seconds and then there was the fashion! This reminded me a lot of devil wears prada in terms of the hidden upper New York life, but it also had its own flair to it. Amazing food, hot chefs, dazzling clothing, and an all around fantastic story. If you love food you need to read this. You will be hungry almost the whole time you're reading, but it's well worth it. I loved Tia's sense of humor and I empathized with her. The love story was simple, and while I wish the ending had given us just a little more, I loved it. Leaves it to the imagination. To me, Food Whore by @jessica_tom is the the embodiment of perseverance and believing in yourself; two very important things for the determined artist. Jess wrote this book starting in 2009 and it was just published this year! Dreamworks Studios recently acquired the rights and I'm sure this is only the beginning of success for Jess. Oh, and she's got a pretty smokin authors portrait on the back shot by yours truly. It was a really great read that reminded me why I fell in love with the restaurant scene to begin with. #foodwhore #jessicatom

In return, Tia gets expensive and elegant meals, designer clothes, and a ticket on the fast track to the top of her career. It isn’t long before the insecure and timid Tia is riding the high of power, and the thin line of all her secrets ruining her. . . This was a little like "The Devil Wears Prada"…in a restaurant. I am totally the audience for this type of book. I appreciated the detail and time taken to describe the food in taste, smell, texture and preparation. This isn’t about food as sustenance, it’s about the passion of food. . I found myself thoroughly entertained and engaged. Tia was a well defined character that I connected with and understood. I think anyone who is trying to figure out how to make their dreams a reality will relate to her. . . How do you know the line between being bold and taking an opportunity, or selling out and losing yourself? . (And let’s not forget that this will make you hungry.
