Hey there!!!! So after a one-year hiatus... I'm back. I took a break from the blog because... well... I'm not going to make excuses. I just did. I wanted to focus my creativity elsewhere and I allowed myself to do that. Priorities, people!
But I missed the blog... I missed sharing food creations and moments of my life. I missed having a record of some of my best meals and creations, and then hearing from you guys about what you got from my little corner of the internet.
So, I'm back at it and we have a lot to catch up on! But here are just three things that happened over the last year...
1) Wally the Welsh
We got a puppy! His name is Wally and like all modern pups, he has an Instagram. He's a Welsh Terrier, a relatively rare breed. People in Welsh Terrier circles always say that there are only 300 Welsh Terriers registered with the American Kennel Club. I don't quite believe that ... only because I personally know eleven AKC-registered Welsh Terriers. But anyway, they are rare because no one ever knows what kind of dog he is.
And yes, I am an intense dog mom. He gets "school" every day, eats steak and sweet potato fries I dehydrate for 12 hours, and got a 4-layer turkey and potato cake for his birthday.
2) All in on yoga
It happened by accident. After our wedding, I decided I was done thinking about incinerating calories and I just wanted a workout that felt good. Enter Honor Yoga Princeton, where I've been a member for about a year and a half.
A yoga post is a whole other thing, but for now I'll say that yoga has totally transformed me. Most obviously, my body is different. For the first time in my life, people are calling me "elegant". Elegant! I'd never heard that, and I'm sure it's because my posture is better and I just move through space with more awareness.
But best of all, I'm a calmer person. I recognize there is a time for force, and a time for flow. I realize everyone is on their own journey and comparing myself to someone else is just plain illogical. Wherever you are is perfect.
Which is not to say I've abandoned ambition -- I've just adjusted how I look at goal-setting. Yoga has taught me that pride and ambition get in the way of actually achieving what you want -- that's when you fall out of the pose or hurt yourself. The only way to get ahead is by focusing on the work and not the reward (whether that's an advanced inversion or completing your novel).
3) Food Career 2.0
But life isn't all puppies and yoga.
I've been working on something TOP SECRET AND REALLY COOL!
It'll be public in a couple weeks and I cannot wait to share! Some clues:
- It's something I've always dreamed about.
- It's related to Food Whore, but is also very much its own thing.
- It forced me to really plumb the depths of my identity and passions. And yes, it was a little painful, but all good stuff is.
What is it??? You'll find out soon enough. But in the meantime, I'll be back with more posts and recipes and whatnot.
